RECREATIONAL PILOT CERTIFICATE

"Recreational Aviation is all about Safe, Accessible, Fun and Enjoyable Aviation."

The Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC) is the RAAus-issued licence for recreational pilots. RAAus (Recreational Aviation Australia) is the governing body for Recreational Aviation in Australia.
On the successful completion of your RPC, you will be able to fly a light, single engine aircraft as the pilot in command without supervision, within 25 nautical miles of our designated flight training areas. With additional short courses such as the Passenger and Navigation endorsements, you’ll then be able to fly almost anywhere within Australia.
Adventure Flight Training’s RPC course is designed to make you a safe, competent and capable pilot. Our course exceeds RAAus minimum safety standards, and incorporates Basic Aeronautical Knowledge theory, one-on-one tutorials, extensive pre-flight briefs and all RAAus exams.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?
In addition to learning how to fly the place, you will also be required to study and demonstrate knowledge of Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK) through examination and demonstration.
Flight training includes a minimum of 25 hours of flight time (20 hours of dual flight (min) and 5 hours supervised solo).
The recreational pilot certificate flight test as well as all RAAus-issued exams based on pre-solo air legislation knowledge, pre-certification air legislation, Basic Aeronautical Knowledge, human factors, radio call procedures, and Cross-Country or Navigation endorsement exams.
Students can begin study for their RPC at any age but must meet these minimum requirements:
  • be 15 years or above to fly solo (however, training can commence earlier)
  • be 16 years or above to be issued an RAAus recreational pilots’ licence
  • be fit to drive a motor vehicle

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
The RPC course at Adventure Flight Training is designed to suit each individual’s unique learning needs. We will adapt to your learning style and provide a safe, friendly and supportive environment for you to develop your skills as a pilot. As the course is competency-based training, the cost of obtaining an RPC will vary based on your rate of learning. Our experienced instructors are committed to providing you with the most cost-effective options based on your preferences, including package discounts and interest-free finance options.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The minimum requirement for eligibility to sit your RPC Flight test is 25 hours flight time, including 5 hours solo. Typically, however, most students will be ready to sit their exam between 30-45 hours. Most students attain an RPC within 6 months when they fly at least once a week.
Learning to fly is as much about the journey as it is the outcome. Getting your RPC will take time and dedication, but at the end of your training you will have the skills and ability to fly all over Australia, sharing magical moments with family and friends.
